One way to enhance the holiday mood is by using Christmas decorations. While many of us already have some Christmas ornaments, our celebrations might be enriched by adding new ones. Those lucky enough to be assigned to decorate the workplace should stretch the budget by shopping online for wholesale Christmas decorations. Here are some ideas for Christmas decorations which go beyond simply ornamenting a Christmas tree.

Beyond Christmas Tree Decorations

Many Christmas ornaments are merely hung upon a Christmas tree. Tinsel, lights, garlands, ribbons, and hanging ornaments are popular choices. Few homes or offices are ready for gift exchanges without a well-decorated tree where Santa Claus will deposit his gifts.

However, these same ornaments may be placed elsewhere. Ribbons or garlands may be strung across windows, as a valance. These may also be attached to the ceiling, along the longer walls of a rectangular room.

Christmas lights may be hung just like garlands. They do require a power outlet, which may detract from the effect.

The same candy canes that could hang from a Christmas tree may be placed in a bowl or vase. This will repeat the Christmas theme wherever the containers are placed.

Knick-Knacks

Many of us have collected small treasures over the years: knick-knacks that embody the memories of past Christmas festivities. One approach is to place them sparsely, one or two per room. This can turn the whole home into a memory lane.

On the other hand, setting a cluster of items in one spot makes it an obvious shrine to those memories. Often a bookshelf or mantelpiece hosts such a set of Christmas ornaments.

A Christmas Stocking May Stray

Another tradition is to hang a colorful, durable "stocking" on the fireplace. This gives Santa a place to stuff an orange, a small toy, a tie or a new piece of Christmas jewelry for the lucky recipient.

As the third image shows, the Christmas stocking looks like a boot made of felt. Often it is personalized with the owner's name.

The traditional location for a Christmas stocking is close to the chimney where Santa Claus makes his entrance. Other locations are feasible, too: along a stairway; from a bookshelf; or attached to the bed.

Wreathed in Smiles

European traditions use evergreens to symbolize life that continues despite the cold, dark season of winter. A wreath, often including nuts, may be hung on the outside of the front door to greet visitors.

A set of wreaths can bring the same message indoors, perhaps by replacing a set of paintings on one wall. The fourth image shows wreaths hanging from a ceiling.

Wholesale Christmas Decorations for Work or Home

Many Christmas ornaments are treasured for generations, since they embody a family's memories. For other items, it is worth purchasing Christmas decorations wholesale, as they will not be reused.

Tinsel may be the best example of a one-time decoration that could be purchased "in bulk" and easily stored. It is difficult to keep used tinsel tidy, but unused tinsel will keep forever.

Especially for the workplace, it is worth researching wholesale Christmas decorations. Buying in sufficient quantity should lead to discounts. As well, a consistent holiday motif helps bond the employees during the season.

Safety First

Some decorating ideas for Christmas are not safe for infants or pets. Tinsel seems to challenge a cat's hunting instincts. Toddlers will chew and swallow anything they can reach. So the home decorator must avoid dangling dangerous objects where they can be reached.
